Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Operations
Sally Parker serves as associate vice chancellor for strategy and operations in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Division of Government and Community Relations, where she is a member of the vice chancellor’s core leadership team. In this role, she oversees division-wide operations, leads strategic initiatives and works closely with university leadership to advance 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s priorities and strengthen the university’s engagement with external partners.
Parker leads and supports strategic projects that span government relations, community engagement and economic development, bringing together teams and partners from across 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and the broader community. She works across the university to align institutional priorities, foster cross-functional collaboration and translate strategy into action. She also represents the vice chancellor on institutional initiatives and university-wide projects.
In addition to her 51³Ô¹ÏÍø leadership role, Parker serves as interim executive director of the , an initiative founded by 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell to strengthen the region’s innovation ecosystem. Parker has played a leadership role in the Alliance since its inception and now leads its efforts to connect partners across Nashville’s public, private, civic and education sectors. Through the Alliance, she works to advance a shared strategy for expanding Nashville’s innovation capacity, strengthening its technology talent pipeline and supporting technology-driven economic development.
Prior to joining Government and Community Relations, Parker served as assistant provost in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Division of Academic Affairs, where she managed high-impact strategic projects in partnership with deans, vice provosts and other university leaders.
Before joining 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, Parker worked in strategic communications, public affairs and economic development consulting in Washington, D.C., Nashville and Tampa. Her experience includes work with clients across the public and private sectors, including serving as senior editor of the Africa Defense Forum, a multilingual publication produced by Booz Allen Hamilton on behalf of the United States Africa Command.
Parker has also served as a visiting professor at the University of South Florida. She earned a Ph.D. in political science from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and French from Belmont University.
