Based in Washington, D.C., 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Office of Federal Relations  advocates for federal legislation, regulations, and policy on behalf of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
The State Government Relations team seeks to expand and strengthen partnerships with state leaders to positively impact state policy and represents 51³Ô¹ÏÍø before the Tennessee General Assembly and state government.
The Local Government Relations team works to foster relationships with local policymakers on important issues affecting higher education and local governance while serving as 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s voice on legislative and regulatory matters.

Our latest economic impact report highlights the significant economic benefits that 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Medical Center provide to our city, state and region. Together, our institutions made a $22.13 billion economic impact in 2024, and generated 120,000 jobs.

Our District Impact Report provides an interactive dashboard that illustrates the university’s contributions to each of Tennessee’s state House and Senate districts, as well as the state’s congressional districts. Viewers can see district-level data on employment, financial aid, community engagement, alumni presence, educational opportunities for K-12 students and more.
ON THE HILL is a biannual report produced by the Division of Government and Community Relations summarizing activity at all three levels of government, as outlined by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Federal Relations, State Government Relations, and Local Government Relations teams.
In partnership with TurboVote, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø provides a resource for the community that enables voter registration and provides updates so voters can stay informed about election details.
